On Thursday evening, a tragic road accident occurred near Maili Tisa town in Kajiado County. The accident happened around 6:00 p.m. on September 28, 2023. According to eyewitnesses, the accident involved a private car and a motorcycle. The accident's location was along the Namanga road in Kajiado County. This road is a busy highway connecting Kenya to Tanzania, and accidents are not uncommon. 

The accident resulted in the deaths of five people [5]. Three people died on the spot, while two others were injured and later died at the Namanga Health Centre. No information has been released about the identities of the victims or the motorcycle's passengers. The accident is a tragic reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the need for motorists to exercise caution on the roads. 

The possible causes of the accident are yet to be determined. However, eyewitnesses reported that the accident occurred when a Toyota Lexus, heading towards Namanga, collided with an oncoming motorcycle. Further investigations by the authorities will be necessary to establish the exact cause of the accident. This accident is just one of many that occur on Kenyan roads, highlighting the need for increased road safety measures.

However, Hassan Elena, police commander, concluded that, "Unfortunately, we have lost five people to an accident. We are in the process of identifying them. Three survivors of the accident are recuperating at the hospital." 

Hassan Elena urged all motorists and other road users. That they should be vigilant and should avoid over speeding. He further noted that investigations toward the cause of the accident are ongoing. 

"I urge all road users to be very careful especially during this rainy season because visibility is compromised. Let us all take care of one another by following the stipulated traffic rules," he concluded.
